Rules
Syllabi
Dancers within International Latin and Ballroom syllabus-level events shall adhere to the ISTD syllabus, while dancers in American Rhythm and Smooth syllabus-level events may use any major syllabus. Within syllabus-level events, dancers shall restrict their dancing to figures described in these syllabi at the corresponding level. Intros are not permitted in Syllabus level events. Violation may lead to reduced placement or disqualification.
Open events are not restricted to any syllabus, and Viennese rules are not enforced.
For the safety of all those on the dance floor, no drops, lifts, or aerials are allowed during any competitive event.

Proficiency Points
The Vegas Scarlet Signature is a CDA Fair Level competition and follows the rules set forth by the Collegiate DanceSport Association (CDA) for proficiency points.
Both dancers in a couple must individually be eligible to dance at any given level. In the Standard, Smooth, Rhythm and Latin categories, couples may enter the lowest level for which both dancers are eligible, and the next higher level (e.g. a couple dancing Bronze Latin may also participate in Silver Latin, but not Gold Latin).
In the Nightclub category, couples may enter only one level (Beginner or Advanced) for each dance.
Dancers found to be dancing in a category for which they are ineligible may be disqualified.

This level is only for dancers who are new to competition, where neither dancer started ballroom dancing more than 365 days prior to the event. Dancers in this level may dance any figure or technique at or below the Bronze Syllabus level.
Bronze
This level is open to newcomers and to those more familiar with the basics of each dance. Dancers may dance any figure or technique at or below the Bronze Syllabus level.
Silver
This level is not open to those dancing newcomer, and is recommended for dancers with competitive experience. Dancers may dance any figure or technique at or below the Silver Syllabus level.
Gold
This level is not open to those dancing newcomer, and is recommended for dancers who have a thorough understanding of the basics of each dance. Dancers may dance any figure or technique at or below the Gold Syllabus level.
Open (including Novice, Pre-Champ, and Champ)
These levels are not open to those dancing in newcomer, and are only recommended for advanced dancers. Costumes are strongly encouraged, and there are no syllabus restrictions.
Beginner / Advanced
The nightclub dances (e.g. Salsa, West Coast) are offered in two levels. Dancers may choose to compete in one but not both levels.

Costuming
The Vegas Scarlet Signature does not impose any costume restrictions on dancers, provided the costume does not constitute a nuisance (e.g. lasers or spikes) and is in good taste, as determined by the organizer. Dancers are free to wear rhinestones, tailsuits, etc.
Shoes
- All competitors must wear dance shoes, with outer soles made of a non-marking material such as suede
- No oil or powder may be applied to the floor or to the soles of dance shoes
- Competitors without proper foot attire will not be allowed on the dance floor, and those found applying powder or oil may be disqualified
Prize Fund
A prize fund of $400 will be split between the winners of all Championship events
